On Sunday, September 1st, 2024, at 12:00 P.M., the Glenwood Fire Department hosted a traditional wet down ceremony to welcome their new Tower Ladder. The event took place at North Shore Senior High School, located at 450 Glen Cove Ave, Glen Head, New York. Tower Ladder 538, a 2023 Seagrave Aerialscope 75’ Tower Ladder. This state-of-the-art rig replaces a Simon Duplex-TLI 93’ Tower Ladder. The new rig is dedicated to Ex Chief/Ex Trustee William “Swifty” Swift Jr. The wet down ceremony, a time-honored tradition in the firefighting community, was attended by Atlantic Steamer Fire Company 1, Bayville Fire Company, East Norwich Fire Department, Locust Valley Fire Department, Sea Cliff Fire Department, and Syosset Fire Department, each bringing their own rigs to join in the celebration.
