NORWALK, CT - On May 2nd, Norwalk Fire responded to multi-vehicle accident on I-95 near exit 14 involving two tractor-trailers and one car. One of the trucks was a tanker carrying 8500-gallons of gasoline. The back of the tanker slit open and ignited. The other vehicles were also on fire. The tanker stopped directly under the Fairfield Ave. overpass, causing severe damage to the bridge. The integrity of the bridge was determined to be beyond repair and will be removed. There were no reported injuries, and the initial cause of the accident is still under investigation.
