Colchester Quickly Contains Fire

This article is a direct street report from our correspondent and has not been edited by the 1st Responder newsroom.

At 6 pm on Thursday, 1/2/2024 the Colchester Fire Department with Bozrah Ladder 126, Hebron Squad 210, Marlborough Engine 117 and Yantic FAST were dispatched to 112 Amston Road for a house fire. Engine 128 was already on the air from a medical call and arrived within 2 minutes reporting fire showing from the Alpha/Bravo corner of a single story wood frame residence.

Engine 1 stretched a 1.75” hose line through the front door and began suppressing the fire. Engine 128 was fed by the hydrant on the corner of Village Court. Engine 228 arrived next and stretched a second line. Tanker 228 nursed Engine 2 while crews also performed the primary search. Truck 128 threw ground ladders and performed vertical ventilation.

Middlesex Medic 3 staged on scene but luckily wasn’t needed. At least one cat was removed from the residence. East Haddam's Engine and East Hampton's Ladder covered the town. Car 28 had command and the Colchester Fire Marshal’s Office is investigating.
