At 8:21 am on Thursday, 4/7/2021 the Franklin Fire Department was dispatched to 114 New Park Avenue for a box truck on fire near some tractor trailers. At 8:26 Car 425 requested Yantic to be added and arrived shortly after with a fire underneath the box truck which was also under a canopy.
Car 139 used a dry chemical extinguisher which significantly slowed the fire’s progression. Engine 33 arrived at 8:35 and stretched a 1.75” crosslay to finish extinguishing the fire. Crews then opened the rear door and cut open the side using a circular saw. Engine 32 was second due and tied into Engine 33 with a three inch line in case they needed more water. Engine 31 stood by the hydrant and was released shortly after. There were no injuries and the Franklin Fire Marshal’s Office is investigating.
