Aircraft lands on beach in Carlsbad

Around 0745 AM, a small single engine aircraft landed on a Carlsbad beach. The black and purple piper PA-28 took off from Montgomery-Gibbs Airport in San Diego and was traveling to John Wayne Airport. The pilot reported having engine problems. The high tide was moving the plane around. Crews from Carlsbad Fire Department responded with State Parks Law Enforcement. The aircraft is owned by Learn to Fly San Diego.
According to Carlsbad Fire Department, none of the occupants were injured. Officials commended the pilot for doing an outstanding job getting the aircraft on the ground with nobody being injured. All three on board of the aircraft got out of the aircraft right after it landed.
The aircraft was removed once the tide was low and taken to Palomar Airport in Carlsbad
