Numerous firefighting aircraft were called to assist firefighting efforts wit the Palisades fire. There were numerous fixed wing and rotary aircraft on the scene. They dropped numerous amounts of retardant ahead of the fire in an attempt to slow it down so crews on the ground could fight it. The fire was fueled by heavy Santa Ana winds that were gusting up to 100 Miles Per hour. Residents said the winds were the strongest they have ever felt in the area. There were numerous houses lost in the blaze.
