MONTVILLE, CT - At 3:23 A.M. on the morning of December 20, 2024, the Town of Montville Fire Departments were dispatched to 20 Kitemaug Road for a house fire. At 3:25 A.M., a Montville Police Officer arrived, reporting the home to be well-involved, so M-1 requested the second-alarm.

Engine 21 arrived at 3:31 A.M., reporting a two-story, wood-frame house about three-quarter involved. They laid a supply line up the driveway and lead off with the deck gun. Ladder 15 arrived next and set up for defensive operations. Tribal Engine 1 then tied into the line at the bottom of the driveway. Engine 12 reverse laid from the scene to a hydrant on the corner of Route 32 and Massapeag Road.

At 3:38 A.M., Engine 21 reported a partial collapse. Norwich Truck 1 set up for defensive operations from the street so New London FAST was added. Tankers responded from Oakdale, Chesterfield, Preston, East Great Plain, Gales Ferry, Salem & Gardner Lake. The Canteen responded with refreshments, and the Montville Fire Marshal’s Office is investigating.
