At 8:08 am on Monday, 12/2/2024 the Lisbon Fire Department with Jewett City Engine 156, Baltic Tanker 124, Griswold ET-355, Voluntown Tanker 353, Taftville Engine 22 and the Yantic FAST were dispatched to 205 Newent Road for a building fire. Taftville Car 29 arrived at 8:15 to find a two bay detached garage well involved.
ET-154 laid 800’ of five inch hose up the driveway and stretched a 2.5” hose line to the front of the garage. Tanker 154 arrived next and tied into the supply line. Jewett City then stretched a line to the bravo side while Taftville stretched the third line.
Crews surrounded the building while performing defensive operations and the roof collapsed shortly after. Command requested additional tankers from Canterbury, Scotland, Plainfield, Moosup and Bozrah. Occum Engine 41 covered Lisbon’s station. Car 54 had command and the Lisbon Fire Marshal’s Office is investigating.
