NORWICH, CT - At 3:26 P.M. on Saturday, November 2nd, the Norwich Fire Department, with Taftville Tower 25 and Laurel Hill Engine 62, were dispatched to 11 Third Street for a kitchen fire. Engine 2 arrived at 3:28 P.M. with smoke showing from the first-floor and transmitted the working fire. Engine 2 stretched a one-and-three-quarter-inch hose line through the front door where they found the kitchen and a bedroom burning with hoarding conditions.
Squad A established the water supply from a hydrant on Central Avenue and then deployed a line to the second-floor. Engine 3 stretched a line to the A/D corner and suppressed the fire that was going up the exterior. Truck 1 threw ladders and performed horizontal ventilation. Tower 25 searched the second floor while East Great Plain Rescue 5 filled cylinders.
Battalion 1 was operations while Squad A-X was operations. The Mohegan Tribal Fire Department provided the FAST and the Norwich Fire Marshal’s Office is investigating.
