Haworth, NJ - Haworth firefighters battled a three-alarm fire that damaged a home on Sunset Avenue late Saturday night, November 1st.
Firefighters were called to 455 Sunset Avenue for a reported structure fire just before 11:00 P.M. Chief 152 arrived on scene to find smoke coming from the attic and transmitted a second-alarm, and also requested a FAST team from Dumont to respond.
Dumont Rescue 3 was first to arrive, followed by Haworth Ladder 169. Rescue 3 made entry and performed a search of the residence, and also assisted Haworth with stretching the initial line. The fire, which was located in the attic, began to break through the roof in the rear of the home. Crews laddered the roof and vented as interior crews located the fire and extinguished the flames in the attic with three hand lines.
A third-alarm was transmitted for manpower as extensive overhaul was performed. No injuries were reported. Mutual aid from Dumont, Demarest, Harrington Park, Oradell, New Milford, Cresskill and Tenafly assisted. The cause of the fire is under investigation.
