ROCHELLE PARK, NJ - A car fire in the driveway of a Rochelle Park residence spread to a second vehicle, the home itself, and damaged an unattached garage and a fence on January 29th.

Rochelle Park and Maywood units were dispatched at about 9:30 A.M. to 134 Becker Ave. for multiple reports of a fire. A column of black smoke rose from the driveway, which is directly behind a Route 17 south restaurant. Flames had taken possession of the “C/D’ corner of the home.

Rochelle Park Engine 1 and Truck 1 advanced down the driveway and through the front door and knocked down the flames quickly. Maywood Truck 17 set up behind the restaurant and members vented the roof. The flames were halted before they made it to the main part of the home. The garage received exterior damage only.

Hackensack and Garfield assisted with extinguishment and overhaul. The fire was placed under control within one hour with no injuries reported.
