Vehicle Crashes Into Shirley Homes Garage; Driver Hospitalized
SHIRLEY, NY –The Mastic Fire Department and Suffolk County Police responded to a call Tuesday morning October 9, 2004 after a vehicle struck a home on Floyd Road, partially entering the garage. The accident occurred around 9:10 a.m., prompting emergency dispatch to alert Mastic Fire Chief Steven Januskiewicz to a possible entrapment.
Upon arrival, Mastic FD Engine 1 and Fire Police 80, along with Mastic Beach FD’s engine, found a vehicle lodged in the garage. Fortunately, rescuers were able to remove the driver without the need for heavy extrication. Mastic Ambulance transported the driver to a nearby hospital for evaluation.
This incident marked the fourth of six calls for the Mastic Fire Department that day.
