October 28, 2024 - Troy, NY — Members of the City of Troy Fire Department gathered at the Troy Housing Authority building in Griswold Heights on October 28, 2024 to honor young participants of the annual Fire Safety Poster Contest. The event, which attracted a large turnout of children from the Griswold Heights Apartments, celebrated their efforts to raise awareness about fire safety through creative poster designs.

During the award ceremony, each participant received a certificate of recognition, with several children earning special prizes for outstanding posters across different age groups. The winning designs highlighted the children’s unique artistic takes on essential fire safety messages, showcasing the importance of fire prevention and emergency preparedness.

Following the awards, the children had an opportunity to step outside and take photos in front of a fire apparatus—a highlight for many of the young attendees. The celebration concluded with a pizza party, with prizes and refreshments generously donated by the Troy Housing Authority’s insurance provider HAI Group.

Events like this are key to fostering a culture of fire safety awareness in the community, teaching children the importance of having a family emergency meeting place and other fire prevention tips. The Troy Fire Department, in partnership with the Troy Housing Authority, aims to make fire prevention education a memorable and impactful experience for the youngest members of the community.
