ATLANTA, GA - On October 7th, just before 5:30 p.m., DCFR units were dispatched to a reported explosion at a residence on Beacon Hill Blvd. Upon arrival, Engine 8 observed heavy smoke and flames coming from the residential structure. The homeowner, who had sustained minor burns and lacerations, met firefighters in the front yard and was transported to Grady Hospital. Given the heavy fire conditions and the possibility of an unstable structure, crews initially took a defensive approach to ensure safety. Early investigations at the scene suggested that the fire was being fueled by natural gas. Once the gas was shut off, crews shifted to an offensive strategy, entered the residence, and successfully extinguished the fire.
