SEAGROVE BEACH, Fla. --- South Walton Fire District firefighters responded to a commercial structure fire early Thursday morning in Seagrove Beach.

The initial 911 caller reported around 2:30 a.m. they could see smoke coming from a restaurant known as Angelina’s Pizzeria and Pasta on County Highway 30A.

When SWFD Station 2 firefighters arrived on-scene, they confirmed smoke was visible from the structure and began their fire attack. As additional crews arrived on-scene, firefighters also utilized vertical ventilation to cut holes within the building’s roof and aid in extinguishing the fire.

While enduring the rainy conditions resulting from Hurricane Francine, firefighters created multiple ventilation points and provided better conditions within the structure.

Firefighters continued working, overhauling, and clearing the building until approximately 6:30 a.m.

No injuries were reported. Approximately 25 SWFD personnel responded to the scene and were assisted by the Walton County Sheriff’s Office with a temporary traffic closure for County Highway 30A.

The State Fire Marshal’s Office was requested to investigate the cause of the incident. The initial findings indicate a fire that was accidental in nature and potentially due to an electrical malfunction. Unfortunately, the restaurant suffered heavy damage.

SWFD recognizes this local establishment is well-loved and appreciated within the South Walton community and extends its heartfelt support to the owners, staff, and customers of Angelina’s during the recovery process.
