GLEN HEAD, NY - On September 1st at 12:00 P.M., the Glenwood Fire Department hosted a traditional wet down ceremony to welcome their new Tower Ladder 538, a 2023 Seagrave Aerialscope 75’. The event took place at North Shore Senior High School, located at 450 Glen Cove Ave. This state-of-the-art rig replaces a Simon Duplex-TLI 93’ Tower Ladder. The new rig is dedicated to Ex-Chief/Ex-Trustee William “Swifty” Swift, Jr. The wet down ceremony, a time-honored tradition in the firefighting community, was attended by Atlantic Steamer Fire Co. 1, Bayville Fire Co., East Norwich FD, Locust Valley FD, Sea Cliff FD, and Syosset FD, each bringing their own rigs to join in the celebration.
