Third-Alarm on Farrington Street in Newburgh

NEWBURGH, NY - City of Newburgh FD responded to a reported structure fire in the area of DuBois Street and Farrington Street on Friday, January 31st. Command arrived and found heavy smoke coming from 74 Farrington Street and requested a second-alarm transmitted. Mutual Aid to the scene included West Point-Engine; Air National Guard-Engine; Cronomer Valley-Engine; and GoodWill and Cornwall-on-Hudson were on stand by at Fire Headquarters. Firefighters were under the command of Car Four in defensive operations only. Cornwall-on-Hudson Truck moved to the scene. After the fire was knocked down, firefighters used hand lands to check for hot spots. Command requested Orange County Fire Investigators to the scene. Deputy Fire Coordinator 36-13 was on the scene, as well as City of Newburgh Police and Empress EMS. Central Hudson was called for a power cut. The fire was called in at 11:18 P.M. and called under control around 2:00 AM. The cause and origin is under investigation.
