Pacolet, S.C. – On Sunday night July 28, 2024, at shortly after 9 PM the Pacolet fire department was toned out for a water rescue Near Lockhart Power 180 Motgomery Ave. Reports from dispatch were that there were 2 persons in the water per dispatchers. Mutual aid was requested from several surrounding departments including Glendale Fire District, Duncan fire and others for rescue apparatus, boats and divers to respond. A command area/ boat launch was set up at the Pacolet River Heritage Preserve.
In addition to units on scene Croft Fire Department and Drayton Fire were requested by command to stand by for calls in both the Pacolet and Glendale fire coverage areas while crews operated at the water rescue. At about 9:50 one of the 2 subjects was brought back to the Pacolet River Heritage preserve where they were checked out by Spartanburg EMS. Rescue crews continued to search the river for the 2nd person. At about 10:23 PM Chief 23 reported that all people were out of the water including fire personnel and placed the job under control.
