Rapid Hazmat Response Contains Diesel Spill Threatening Waterway

Fairfield, NJ - The Fairfield Fire Department responded to a hazardous materials incident involving a diesel fuel spill that had entered Deepavaal Brook.


Firefighters from Engine 1, Engine 3, and Squad 1 quickly deployed containment booms to limit the spread of fuel and protect the Passaic River. Crews remained on scene to monitor conditions and support ongoing containment efforts.


Specialized units from Nutley Hazmat and the New Jersey Department of Environmental Protection (DEP) responded to coordinate cleanup operations and mitigate environmental impact. The incident remained active as cleanup efforts continued.
