Structure Fire in Paulding County Claims Life

Dallas, GA - On May 27, 2024, at 10:36 a.m., a male occupant of a home located at 159 Legend Drive called 911 advising that his house was on fire and that his wife, who was disabled, was trapped in a second-story bedroom.
Approximately 7 minutes after the initial 911 call, Paulding County Fire & Rescue units arrived on the scene and reported heavy black smoke coming from the residence.
Crews initiated rapid search & rescue operations in heavy heat & smoke conditions. Within minutes, an unconscious 62-year-old female was located in a rear bedroom and extricated to the front yard, where awaiting personnel rendered emergency medical aid. Sadly, the woman was pronounced dead on the scene.
Engines 5, 10, 14, Rescue 4, Squad 1, Truck 2, and several command officers and Metro EMS and Paulding County Sheriff’s Deputies responded to the incident.
Paulding County Fire & Rescue, Paulding County Sheriff’s Office, and the State of Georgia’s Fire Marshall’s Office are investigating the incident. Additional details will be released as they become available.
