At 1:33 pm on Thursday, 3/27/25 the Norwich Fire Department with Laurel Hill Engine 62 and Taftville Tower 25 were dispatched to 124 North Main Street for a house fire. Squad A arrived at 1:35 with smoke showing from the eves and transmitted the working fire.
Squad A stretched a 1.75” hose line to the third floor and found fire in the walls. Engine 2 laid in from the hydrant on the corner of Roath Street and established the water supply. Truck 1 set up in the front and threw a ground ladder to the rear to get on the roof and prepared for ventilation. Engines 2 & 3 took hand tools to the top floor and assisted with opening up.
Battalion 1 had command while Car 1 was operations and Car 10 had safety. East Great Plain Rescue 5 provided support while Occum Engine 41 covered the city. The Mohegan Tribal Fire Department provided the FAST and the Norwich Fire Marshal’s Office is investigating.
The Norwich Police Department shut the roads down while Norwich Public Utilities secured power to the residence. American Ambulance staged a crew on scene but the incident did not result in any injuries. 10 adults were displaced and are being assisted by the American Red Cross.
