Lake Harmony, PA, Saturday, March 21, 2020 - 03:40 - Lake Harmony Station 17, Albrightsville Station 16, Lehighton ALS, and Lake Harmony Ambulance were dispatched to a tractor trailer crash on Interstate 80 at the 280.0 East mile marker at 03:40 AM. The tractor trailer was reported to have rolled on its side and possibly on fire. Engine 17 and Rescue 17 arrived together to find two tractor trailers with one on fire. Two lines were stretched from the engine and the 1" foam line was deployed from the rescue truck. Traffic was controlled using the LED sign board and LED flares. 1651,1632, and Tanker 17 supplied Engine 17. Monroe County Tunkhannock Station 42 was called to help with overhaul. The metal cutting circular saw and sawzall were used to open the roof of the trailer to fight the fire. Fire police from districts 17, 12, 19 and 22 were on scene and eventually closed the roadway until the recovery company could clear the highway. The truck was hauling oranges from California. The driver self extricated and was transported to a local hospital by Lake Harmony Ambulance. Fire units were on scene for over 3 hours.
