TAFTVILLE, CT - At 9:24 P.M. on Thursday, January 12th, the Taftville Fire Department with Norwich Engine 2, Truck 1 and the Battalion were dispatched to 12 Prentice Street for a reported motorcycle that blew up and caught the back of the house on fire. Car 2 arrived at 9:28 P.M., reporting fire showing from the 'Delta' side of a single-story, wood-frame residential house.

Engine 21 arrived shortly after and stretched a one-and-three-quarter inch hose line to the 'Delta' side, knocking a large amount of fire. Engine 2 arrived next and dropped their five-inch at Engine 21 and reverse laid to the hydrant on the corner of Prentice and Highland Street. Engine 2 then forced the front door and stretched a line from Engine 21 to the interior. Tower 25 threw a ground ladder and cut a hole in the roof. Engine 22 stretched a third line while Truck 1 did overhaul.

Car 2 had command while the Battalion had operations. American Ambulance and the Mohegan Tribal FAST stood by on scene. The Norwich Fire Marshal’s Office is investigating.
