NORWICH, CT - Around 1:30 P.M. on Friday, January 5th, the Yantic and East Great Plain Fire Departments were dispatched to Interstate 395 northbound near Exit 13 for a tractor-trailer rollover. Car 30 arrived reporting a dump styler tractor-trailer that had flipped onto its driver’s side. The operator was still in the cab and had to be assisted out by first responders. Engine 33 stretched a dry one-and-three-quarter-inch hose line while Rescue 3 applied some speedy dry. Engines 32 and 52 tied into 33 in case more water was needed. The truck was carrying scrap metal, which spilled onto the highway. The Department of Transportation cleaned up the mess while Raymonds uprighted the truck and trailer with two heavy duty wreckers. American Ambulance transported one patient to Backus Hospital, and the highway was closed for a couple of hours.
