Groton Long Point, CT. — July 4 — The Groton Long Point Volunteer Fire Department observed Independence Day while continuing to be prepared to handle crises. Due to increased travel, watercraft, and fireworks use, July Fourth is usually one of the busiest days for fire and emergency service organizations.

While celebrating the holiday, the agency urged locals and guests to abide by local fireworks laws, utilize grills and outdoor cooking equipment responsibly, and stay mindful of water safety. The public was also advised by firefighters to dial 911 right away in case of an emergency.
