Mutual Aid Supported Montville Timber Fire Response

This article is a direct street report from our correspondent and has not been edited by the 1st Responder newsroom.

Norwich, CT. — June 17 — Engine 51 was sent in the morning to a huge timber fire in a distant part of Montville, and the East Great Plain Volunteer Fire Company responded. In order to maintain a consistent water supply, crews had to set up a tanker shuttle due to restricted access and a shortage of hydrants.

The fire was contained and put out by firefighters without causing any more property damage or injuries. The operation was supported by mutual assistance departments from Salem, Gardner Lake, Preston, Gales Ferry, Bozrah, Oakdale, Chesterfield, and the Town of Montville career staff. Throughout the event, an extra water supply was provided by a tanker from East Putnam.
