Stephen Jerome Walsh, beloved husband, father, brother and community servant, passed away on November 16th, 2024, at the age of 60. Born on October 23, 1964, to Jerome "Jerry" Walsh and Helene M. Walsh, Stephen grew up with his brothers, Joe and Mark Walsh, cherishing family ties that would shape his life.
Stephen proudly served his country as a flight engineer and pilot with the Air National Guard's 105th Airlift Wing out of Newburgh, NY, from 1992 to 2001. He flew the iconic C-5 Galaxy, and participated in both wartime and peacetime missions, exemplifying skill and dedication.
Aviation was a lifelong passion for Stephen, who later flew corporate jets for FlightOptions and Richmond Aviation and shared his expertise as a certified flight instructor. In addition to his aviation career, Stephen wore many hats, including working as a DJ for a local radio station and as a captain for Hudson River Cruises.
Stephen was deeply committed to his community, serving as a member of the Claverack Fire Department, where he worked in Fire Police. Since 2022, he had devoted himself to helping others as an EMT with the Copake Rescue Squad, a role that reflected his selflessness and compassion.
He is survived by his devoted wife, Ruethairat Carbon Walsh, his son, Alesandro Jerome Walsh, from his previous marriage to Arionei Walsh, and his brothers, Joe and Mark Walsh.
Stephen will be remembered for his unwavering dedication to his family, his service to his community, and his boundless love for aviation.
