PATERSON, NJ - Shortly before 11:00 A.M. on December 21st, flames consumed the rear porches and extended inside a three-store frame dwelling at 423 E. 18th St. in Paterson. Ladder 3, responding from their firehouse a block away, was able to quickly rescue an occupant from an upper floor. Fire spread to the exposure "2" building, but was able to be controlled. A wide-open parking lot in the rear allowed Engine 5 to use its deck gun to knock down the heavy fire. A rapid extinguishment to any interior fire was able to be completed. The fire was placed under control in just over 30 minutes. Seven occupants were displaced just days before Christmas. One was transported to Saint Joe's with non-life-threatening injuries.
