Dumont - An exterior fire quickly spread between two homes Saturday afternoon spreading to the interior of one home and the rear yard of the other. At 3:18pm, Dumont fire firefighters were dispatched to 92 Sherwood Rd for a reported structure fire. First arriving units were met with fire spreading up the exterior of 92 Sherwood and into the attic. Fire had spread to the rear yard of 88 Sherwood but was contained by residents with a garden hose. Engine 3 arrived on scene and stretched an 1.75" attack line though the front door to the second floor as a 2nd line was stretched to the exterior of the delta side. The outside fire in the rear was wet down and extinguished as interior crews battled fire that had extended into the attic. It took firefighters a half an hour to extinguish the fire. Mutual aid from Tenafly, Haworth, New Milford and Bergenfield assisted on scene. No injuries were reported and the cause remains under investigation.
