NEWBURGH, NY - On December 19, 2023, Winona Lake and Orange Lake Fire Departments responded to a two-vehicle MVA with rollover and entrapment on Interstate 84 eastbound, in the area of the off ramp to State Route 300.
Eastbound traffic was shut down as the driver of the tractor-trailer and driver of the other vehicle involved were transported to Montefiore-St. Luke's Hospital. Orange County Hazmat was called and responded to the scene, as the tractor-trailer was carrying caustic sodium hydroxide. Firefighters disconnected the battery on the vehicle involved, which was up against the guardrail on the north side of the interstate.
The roadway was closed for hours during the incident. NYS Police Officers, were assisted at the scene by Town of Newburgh Police.
