Engine Co #4 Calls in Fire on Way to Another Alarm

12-15-24 approximately 230pm- Paterson Engine Co #4, while en route to another alarm was proceeding on North Main St from their quarters and noticed heavy smoke emitting from the abandoned vacant library building on the corner of North Main and Jefferson Sts. Making entry into the building, a fire was located in the basement of the structure and a full first alarm assignment was dispatched. A working fire was called which brought Deputy Chief Ricciardi to the scene to assume command. The fire was contained to the basement of the building and no injuries were reported. Boarded up windows had to be broken to vent the building. Ladder 2 opened upper windows. The fire was held to a single alarm. Units were back in service by 330pm
