Watervliet, NY - On November 6, 2022, the city of Watervliet Fire Department, along with mutual aid from the Watervliet Arsenal Fire Department, Green Island Fire Department, and the city of Cohoes Fire Department responded to 419 13th Street for a reported structure fire.

The first arriving engine on scene immediately declared a signal thirty for a working structure fire as they had smoke showing from the rear of the structure. Firefighters immediately deployed an inch and three-quarter hand line up the stairs to the second-floor apartment. Firefighters quickly began to pull the ceilings in the rear of the structure and exposed a fire condition in the roof. Firefighters utilized a hand line on the side of the building and knocked down the fire on the exterior portion of the structure in the roofline area.

Firefighters inside of the structure were able to knock down the fire condition within the first three minutes of arrival. Additional resources began to arrive on scene and assisted with overhaul. Firefighters remained on scene for an extended period of time as the police department conducted their investigation into the fire. The fire is currently under investigation at this time and does not appear to be suspicious. The home suffered smoke and water damage from the fire. No injuries were reported.
