Melbourne Beach VFD rescues teens

This article is a direct street report from our correspondent and has not been edited by the 1st Responder newsroom.

Melbourne Beach Volunteer Fire Department Marine Unit 58 rescue boat responded to a call for service after a concerned mother called for assistance to report that two juveniles were being blown across the Indian River due to the wind. The two in a 96” Sun Dolphin Pedal Boat left the west shore of Melbourne Beach for a short fishing expedition. Soon the wind and driving rain pushed them towards Palm Bay. Both wearing lifejackets used their cell phone to call their mother who alerted MBVFD for assistance. After locating the boat both boys were transferred along with the Pedal Boat to Marine 58 for the trip back to the 6th Avenue boat ramp in Melbourne Beach and their mother’s care.
