On Sunday, September 22nd, 2024, the Suffolk County Sheriff’s Office hosted its annual open house/family day. The event took place from 11:00 A.M. to 3:00 P.M. at the Yaphank Correctional Facility. The open house featured a wide array of emergency equipment, including armed vehicles, boats, and patrol cars. Members of the sheriffs office orchestrated live demonstrations such as felony stop and canine demonstrations, a SERT Riot Demonstration. Event goers were also able to participate in tours of the correctional facility.
