MASTIC BEACH, NY - Firefighters responded to a structure fire in Mastic Beach late Thursday night, August 22nd, with reports of people possibly trapped, but no injuries were reported, officials said.
The Mastic Beach Fire Department was dispatched to a home on Locust Dr. at 10:13 p.m., following a report of a fire and possible entrapment. Upon arrival, firefighters discovered a shed on fire and quickly stretched a hose line to extinguish the blaze, officials said. A search determined no one was inside the shed.
Suffolk County Police were also on the scene and checked a nearby camper to ensure no one was inside. The Mastic Beach Ambulance responded as a precaution, though no injuries occurred. Firefighters remained on the scene for over an hour before the fire was turned over to the fire marshal for further investigation.
The cause of the fire is under investigation.
