On Friday, November 1st 2024, The Sound Beach Fire Department conducted a fire prevention open house. During the event the department emphasized the importance of closing your bedroom door before you go to sleep. Sound Beach Fire Department Ex Chief Handshaw led the presentation. This demonstration showed how a closed door can protect you from toxic smoke and deadly flames but also slow down the growth of a fire.
