CHATHAM TOWNSHIP, NJ — August 7 — Firefighters from the Chatham Township Volunteer Fire Department, based at 495 River Road, arrived at a residential fire in Chatham Township after the home was reportedly hit by lightning. Upon arrival, they found flames coming from the front of the house and worked to control the fire and stop it from spreading further.

Support was provided by fire departments from Green Village, Chatham Borough, New Providence, and Summit.

Madison firefighters handled station coverage, while the Chatham Emergency Squad and Chatham Township Police Department assisted with the response.

Chatham Township has confirmed that the community is served by both the Chatham Township and Green Village volunteer fire departments.

The township’s fire department has been serving the community since 1925 and operates from two stations.
