Mutual Aid Crews Assisted at Quarry Fire

Bridgewater, N.J. — August 21 — When a fire was reported at the Stavola quarry on Chimney Rock Road, the Martinsville Volunteer Fire Department responded. The problem was discovered by firefighters close to the top of the paving silos, where maintenance had been done.
While personnel worked at the elevated area, Finderne Fire and Warren Fire offered assistance to one another. When it was reported that an acetylene cylinder was venting close to the silos, Somerset County Haz-Mat also reacted. At the site, Bridgewater Police provided assistance.
Without the situation getting worse, firefighters managed to get it under control. The address of the Martinsville Volunteer Fire Department was 1912 Washington Valley Road, Martinsville, N.J. 08836. Stavola ran the quarry on Chimney Rock Road, according to Bridgewater archives.
