Orange and Dutchess Agencies Coordinate River Recovery

Fire, EMS, marine and law-enforcement agencies coordinated a recovery operation on the Hudson River following a reported incident at the Newburgh-Beacon Bridge. New Hamburg-Middlehope and Newburgh firefighters responded to the Newburgh Yacht Club during the August 22, 2026 incident in Newburgh, NY. Responding companies were advised that the Dutchess County Sheriff's Marine Unit had recovered the victim and was transporting the victim to the yacht club. New York State Police, Town of Newburgh Police and the Orange County Sheriff's Office operated at the scene along with Town of Newburgh EMS and Orange County Deputy Fire Coordinator 36-13. The victim was transferred to EMS and transported to Montefiore St. Luke's Cornwall Hospital. New York State Police were investigating the incident.
