Commack Crews Respond to Lefferts Avenue House Fire

This article is a direct street report from our correspondent and has not been edited by the 1st Responder newsroom.

Firefighters responded to a residential structure fire on Lefferts Avenue in Commack, New York, on August 5, 2026, where crews worked to extinguish remaining fire and check the home for extension.

The Commack Fire Department was the primary responding fire agency. According to the department-sourced incident report, first-arriving members found that much of the fire had already been knocked down, but crews still had residual fire conditions to address inside the residence.

Companies checked the structure for extension and completed suppression operations while protecting the rest of the home. It was reported that the residence was badly burned, but firefighters were able to prevent the fire from spreading farther.

No injuries were reported in the sources I found, and no outside mutual-aid fire department was identified as responding to this particular incident. The cause of the fire was not publicly reported.
