Early Morning Fire Damages Brentwood Home

This article is a direct street report from our correspondent and has not been edited by the 1st Responder newsroom.

Firefighters from multiple Suffolk County departments responded to a residential structure fire at 4 Stockton Street in Brentwood, New York, on July 29, 2026, after a basement fire spread through much of the home.

The Brentwood Fire Department was the primary responding agency after the alarm was transmitted at approximately 5:54 a.m. First-arriving crews encountered a heavy fire condition in the basement of the one-story residence. The blaze ultimately damaged most of the house.

As the incident developed, mutual-aid companies were requested. News 12 reported that 10 fire departments responded to the Stockton Street fire. The Commack Fire Department is specifically confirmed as one of the assisting agencies.

All occupants were able to escape the home, and no civilian or firefighter injuries were reported. Crews remained on scene working suppression and overhaul as mutual-aid personnel supported the operation.

The cause of the fire was not identified in the public reports I found. Property records describe 4 Stockton Street as a single-family residence built in 1959 with approximately 848 square feet of living space.
