FDNY Battles Third-Alarm Fire in Bronx Apartment Building

This article is a direct street report from our correspondent and has not been edited by the 1st Responder newsroom.

At 11:52 a.m. on July 19, the FDNY responded to a reported fire on the sixth level of an eight-story structure at 1521 Sheridan Ave. in the Bronx.

The flat was extremely cluttered, making it difficult for firefighters to reach the deepest parts of the fire. About 200 fire and emergency medical personnel arrived at the scene after the incident was elevated to a third alarm due to the smoke and debris.

Just before 2:00 p.m., the fire was contained. There were two firefighters with minor injuries. The cause is still being looked into.
