Firefighters from numerous Cattaraugus County departments responded to a working structure fire at 7883 Route 353 in New Albion, New York, on August 6, 2026.

The Cattaraugus Volunteer Fire Department was the primary responding agency after Cattaraugus County Fire Control dispatched crews at approximately 7:19 p.m. for a reported residential fire with possible occupants still inside. A sheriff’s deputy arriving ahead of fire crews reported a working fire and indicated occupants were being removed from the residence.

The initial response included Cattaraugus, Little Valley, Otto and Salamanca, along with EMS and a county fire coordinator. As additional manpower and water-supply resources were needed, mutual aid was requested from Gowanda, Dayton, South Dayton, East Otto, Leon and Conewango.

Firefighters from the participating departments worked together to support fire suppression, water supply and other fireground operations. Cattaraugus Area Ambulance Service also assisted, along with county emergency-services personnel.

Crews received additional support from the Cattaraugus Firemen’s Club, Cattaraugus Auxiliary and Perkys while operations continued.

The incident remained active into the evening as crews worked at the scene. Information regarding injuries, the extent of damage and the cause of the fire was not included in public reports.
