At before 2:45 p.m. on August 12, Broadalbin-Kennyetto Fire Company responded to a reported structure fire on County Highway 155 in the Town of Mayfield.
In addition to police and Lake Valley EMS, Perth Volunteer Fire Company was called in as automatic mutual aid. The home's smoke alarms went off, and smoke was allegedly pouring from a crawl space.
After conducting an investigation, firefighters discovered that the basement had smoke. It was found that the fire was electrical in origin. To fix the electrical problem, National Grid was asked to come to the scene.
To make sure the situation was under control and the house was secure, crews stayed on the spot.
