Danbury, CT - The Danbury Fire Department responded to a reported apartment complex fire after multiple 911 calls indicated a working incident with unclear location details.

Upon arrival, crews encountered active fire conditions that were quickly escalated to a second alarm. During operations, firefighters rescued a resident trapped on a balcony using ground ladders as heavy smoke filled the apartment. The individual was evaluated and transported for further care.

Firefighters from Danbury, along with mutual aid from Brookfield and Stony Hill, worked to bring the fire under control despite challenging conditions, including a partial structural collapse involving multiple floors. Several civilians and one firefighter were transported for evaluation, and a dog was rescued and taken for veterinary care.

Approximately 80 residents were displaced and are being assisted by the American Red Cross. Additional mutual aid companies provided coverage for the city during the incident. The cause of the fire remains under investigation by the Fire Marshal’s Office.
