A suspected commercial building fire in the township's Blue Anchor neighborhood prompted the Winslow Township Fire Department and mutual assistance organizations to respond in late July 26 and early July 27.
When Engine 25 arrived, there was a lot of smoke, so they set up a 2½-inch handline while Battalion 25 took charge. Before workers finished extinguishing the fire, the majority of it was contained by the building's fire suppression system. A Camden County Level 3 Hazardous Materials response was triggered by a chemical odor, and air monitoring, decontamination, and medical monitoring were carried out. The public was not in danger, according to officials.
Two firefighters sustained minor injuries and were treated and released. The fire remains under investigation by the Camden County and Winslow Township Fire Marshal's offices.
