Firefighters responded to a fully involved vehicle fire in East Farmingdale, New York, on July 7, 2026, where operations were complicated by downed overhead power lines.
The East Farmingdale Volunteer Fire Company was the primary responding department. Safety 1 arrived first and confirmed a Chevrolet van heavily involved in fire. Engines 1-5-1 and 1-5-7 stretched a handline and brought the fire under control while additional department units supported the operation.
During suppression, overhead electrical lines came down into the incident area, creating an additional hazard for members. Crews maintained a safe operating area until PSEG Long Island secured the electrical hazard.
The incident was under the command of Captain Grosvalet of Station 3. No outside mutual-aid fire department was identified in the available information.
