Essex units joined mutual assistance agencies to assist the Old Lyme Fire Department due to a shortage of personnel during the day. Throughout the crisis, firefighters helped with fireground operations and established water supply operations.

To staff equipment and finish operational tasks, crews from a number of nearby agencies collaborated.
