Utility Repairs Followed South Main Street Tree Incident

Essex, CT. — 13th June — Essex Fire Engine Co. firefighters. Following a complaint of a tree limb on overhead power wires, #1 responded to South Main Street. When crews arrived, they discovered a sizable portion of a tree sitting on the wires, with of its smaller limbs on fire. Firefighters closed the road, secured the area, and asked Eversource to come. Before the road could safely reopen, utility crews discovered that the falling limb had damaged two utility poles, necessitating expensive repairs.


While repairs were being made, firefighters stayed on the scene to control traffic and safeguard the work area. During the event, no injuries were recorded.
