On the hot afternoon of July 1st, Leominster fire alarm received a call for a dryer fire in a home on Washington Street. Engines 2, 3, 4, Ladder 1, and Rescue 1 responded with Deputy Chief Jeff Davis. On arrival heavy smoke was coming from the 2.5 story woodframe with a report of an occupant still inside. The occupant was located and removed and treated by EMS, a dog was also removed. The fire was knocked down with one line and crews opened the walls around the dryer to locate hot spots. The LFD fire prevention unit is investigating.
